Main Drains For Above Ground Pools
A main drain is an additional path for water to circulate in your above ground pool. Besides sucking in water from the top at the skimmer, swimming pools equipped with a main drain draw water in from the floor of the pool too. Pulling in water from the depths of the pool ensures dirt and debris are removed by the filter system. This is a huge improvement over just drawing in water from the top few inches only. As you probably already know, dirt and algae tend to collect at the bottom of the pool and usually in the center where circulation is at it’s worst.
Main drains can only be installed during a liner change or at the time of pool installation. If you have never had a main drain in your above ground pool you’ll be blown away by the improvement in water circulation and lack of maintenance your pool will require.
